DESCRIPTION

🪶 Real flight, not wing-stretch

An indoor flight cage gives birds a metre or two of wing-stretch on a good day. The Wingmore gives them 12ft × 6ft of real outdoor space — a proper aviary where they can fly laps, sun themselves, and behave like birds again. The optional safety porch lets you step inside to top up food, change perches, or just spend time with them without anyone making a break for it.

🇬🇧 Handcrafted in Britain, bird-safe by design

Built in Britain from European softwood, finished with a pet-safe water-and-wax-based preservative — sustainably sourced, with three trees planted for every one we use. The standard build uses galvanised welded mesh; a 16-gauge mesh upgrade is available if you want a heavier-grade wire for longer life or extra peace of mind in an exposed garden.

🏡 A sheltered home, a daytime sky

Suitable for parakeets, cockatiels, lovebirds, finches, canaries, doves, quail and similar small birds. The covered roof section shelters food, water, and roosting perches; the open mesh flight section gives them their daytime sky.

ABOUT THIS ITEM
  • 12ft × 6ft footprint, ~6ft to apex — real flight room, roughly 3728mm × 1864mm × 1834mm.
  • Treated European softwood frame — pet-safe water-and-wax-based preservative, sustainably sourced (three trees planted for every one cut).
  • Standard galvanised welded mesh — rust-resistant, sized for small birds.
  • Optional 16-gauge mesh upgrade — a heavier-grade galvanised welded steel option, available for longer mesh life and extra peace of mind in exposed sites.
  • Optional safety porch — small antechamber so you can step inside without your birds escaping. Worth it from day one.
  • Covered roof section — sheltered roosting area protected from rain, wind, and direct summer sun. Open mesh flight section gives full daylight and air.
  • Lockable door — bolt-and-latch design.
  • Made in Britain — handcrafted in our Kent workshop. Not flat-packed in a Far East factory.
  • 90 days no quibble + 2-year parts warranty — far longer than the 30-day terms many competitors offer.
  • Free UK mainland delivery — palletised, kerbside.

What People Are Saying About Us...

Wonderful product & great company

It was such a great experience!

I was concerned that it would not be possible for me, an 82yr old lady,no good at DIY. to put it together - but it just needed a Philips screwdriver and it was easy!

They were so helpful with advice and instruction and wow - British made - wonderful - superb bird feeder and cheap!

Excellent advice and customer service

We contacted Home & Roost for more information on what size cat house to buy and to find out more about microchip cat flaps. Alan responded quickly, was really friendly and provided great advice to help us decide on what to purchase.

The product is well made and the insulated pads in the floor and roof do help keep it warm inside.

We are really pleased with the product and service from Home & Roost and would definitely buy from them again and recommend them to others. Thank you Alan and team.

Buy with complete confidence

I purchased a cat house for a stray that had arrived on my property. I was kept informed about the delivery.

I contacted Home and Roost by email to request a return, they responded almost immediately and were very understanding, they arranged collection and return of the unopened item very quickly and easily for me.

The fact that these are made in the UK, not China like everything seems to be these days, so being able to support a British company was fantastic.

Best hutches and cat hideouts around

Best hutches and cat hideouts around I was led to believe when buying flat pack cages that they would all break in a month or so which is normally been the case.

But since using home and roost with them being A British made company everything Is a lot better quality all the panels are solid they are easy to put together but we definitely ordering more from you in the future❤️

Quality product, quality customer service!

We are extremely impressed with the service and products from Home & Roost. We were in urgent need of our new hutch, so upon speaking with customer service.

They arranged to send our hutch on an order separate to the rest of our ordered items, at no extra charge, so that we received it in time for our new bunny.

A quality product, with quality customer service.

High quality item with high quality service

Initial issue with delivery date, but this was sorted quickly and professionally. The catio is well made and survived all the storms we’ve had in the recent months - it never moved.

The quality is much higher than others I’ve seen, I would definitely recommend purchasing from them.
Excellent product and excellent service.

Great Value and the Birds Love It

I wasn’t expecting much for the price, but I’m genuinely really pleased with this bird table.

Delivery was fast, it was easy to set up, and it feels nice and sturdy. The quality is better than I expected and it looks great in the garden.

Best of all, the birds seem to love it — they were using it almost straight away. Really good value for money and I’d happily recommend it.

All Round Great Company

I ordered the wrong hutch (I wanted a double but ordered the 2 tier) and also without realising I ordered the wrong size vinyl flooring.

The warehouse staff anticipated I had made a mistake with the flooring size and sent the one I needed.

The after sales service was excellent with helping me get the hutch I wanted

Perfect

I ordered this for my husbands birthday. I have looked at many this was the best around It’s taller at 7ft and exceptionally well made.We have farm at the back of our house so it’s all open land.

During the heavy winds last week it stood strong and very sturdy. Delivery was on time and great customer service. Would defiantly recommend great craftsmanship 👍

My experience began badly but ended brilliantly!

After a hedgehog house failed to arrive within the stated 3–5 days and appeared stuck at the courier’s depot.

After three weeks, I contacted Home and Roost and received an immediate and apologetic response from James, who dispatched a replacement straight away, suspecting the original had been lost.

Two days later, a pristine replacement arrived!

I'm delighted with the level of customer service. I will be happy to return to Home and Roost in the future.

5+ stars

Order process was straightforward - initially hutch was shown on back order but it was fulfilled and dispatched earlier than website said

Regular updates for the delivery - so I was able to reschedule to a convenient date.
Sandhurst 5ft Double Hutch easy to put together was well made and solid - it's withstood the storm which occurred shortly after putting it up.

Couldn’t fail this company

Their website, delivery, instructions everything was beyond perfect. Note, wood is very strong so you will need a small drill. Can do by screwdriver though not recommended.

Hutch is beautiful and especially the design. Has allowed for me to keep my rabbits in a bigger hut outside and with three tiers, I have separated two of the rabbits that were fighting.

Also, they threw in a few Haroon packets so really nice surprise when you’re reading the instructions. Definitely using this company over pets at home from now on, wish I knew of you guys earlier!

Great product and fantastic customer service

Brilliant to find a Made in Britain company.

I can be pretty sure that the making processes will do least harm to the environment, help protect our wildlife and countryside, and support local UK businesses.

Something made in China probably fails to meet any ethical standards that we consider vital . Well done Home and Roost. I'll be back!

Message from a happy cat!

Hello, my name is Alice. I am a feral cat and I have a choice of 3 warm and cosy places to sleep and to shelter from the weather.

There are other feral cats close by who are my friends and they also have cosy shelters where they can be safe and warm. There is a person who lives in a much larger shelter and she feeds us and puts fresh straw into our little houses.

We have overheard her say that she buys our houses from a British company called Home and Roost. We think that the people at Home and Roost must know a lot about cats because they have created such perfect houses for us which they make in their own workshops in England.

Thank you and lots of love and happy meows from Alice & friends 😽

Every internet interaction we've had with Home and Roost has been marvellous. We have a neurodivergent daughter. Putting together a world for bunnies, is not a simple thing, but they have helped us at every step of the way. The website is clear, and efficient, for which we are really grateful to them. The customer service has been excellent, and the one problem we had with a product was resolved within a matter of days. So just generally a great company, with a great attitude and great products.

Service and professionalism

Great product and keenly priced, swift dispatch, but let down by the courier, who managed to damage a key component. A quick email exchange of some photos and Alan and his team had a replacement on its way the same day!! I cannot fault the service and professionalism of Home & Roost.

Great customer service

Great customer service, the cat house was initially for a pregnant stray, however we ended up finding her owner and the stray.... she's just fat not pregnant!, i think my cats and the neighbours catswill use it during summer.
Its made beautifully, great workmanship for an extremely reasonable price I like the fact it has legs to keep it off the ground, I put a water proof cover over it, although the house is waterproof I just want to give it extra protection.

Highly recommend home to roost if your looking for pet shelters etc.

High Quality Cat House and Excellent Customer Service

The Whitstable Cat House I ordered is beautifully designed and crafted. Unfortunately, our visiting cat would just not go inside. He is an outdoor cat and quite nervy so I guess he didn’t like the idea of being in his own house. Disappointing as it really is a lovely house, very solid and looks good.
I contacted Home & Roost to return it. James was wonderful to communicate with and arranged a home collection, soon after I received a full refund.
I highly recommend. The quality of cat houses is excellent and the customer service fantastic.

I was homeless but now I live in a palace

Got our local stray a wee house from Home and Roost — and I swear it’s nicer than anything I’ve ever lived in! 🐱🏡

Top quality, arrived faster than a cat sprinting for treats, and at a price that didn’t make my wallet cry. The stray’s moved in, claimed the deed, and now stares at me from their porch like they pay the mortgage. 😂

Honestly, can’t fault Home and Roost — brilliant service, cracking product, and one very smug cat who clearly knows they’ve upgraded.

Alan was fantastic!

I made a purchase and then I wanted to swap the order. Alan cancelled my order so I could then proceed to reorder with the item I now wanted to buy

I then realised one of the items was back ordered but couldn't wait for that to be fulfilled so Alan split the delivery and within minutes after his email I had a confirmation my order was dispatched!

Really friendly, really helpful, and actually the best customer service I have had in a long time. Alan and Home and Roost have been super accommodating

I most certainly will be ordering from them again

Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? We’ve got answers!

Is 12ft × 6ft enough space for my flock?

For small birds — budgies, cockatiels, finches, canaries, doves, quail — a 12ft × 6ft footprint comfortably suits a small flock with real flight room. The RSPCA's guideline is an aviary length of at least four wingspans, which 12ft easily covers for any small bird.

What's the difference between standard mesh and the 16-gauge upgrade?

The standard galvanised welded mesh is rust-resistant and sized for small birds. The 16-gauge upgrade uses a heavier-grade wire — useful if you want longer mesh life, you're in an exposed site, or you'd like extra peace of mind against larger garden visitors at the mesh surface. Both meshes are galvanised so they won't rust.

Is the Wingmore fox-proof?

No outdoor aviary is 100% fox-proof — we'd never claim ours is. What helps: the heavier 16-gauge mesh, an anti-dig skirt (buried mesh apron) around the base, or sitting the aviary on a concrete slab. Locking your birds into the covered roof section at dusk is the single biggest thing you can do. We're happy to talk through your site before you order.

Does the Wingmore need planning permission?

In most UK gardens, no. The Wingmore's apex sits below the standard 2.5m boundary threshold for outbuildings, which usually means it falls under permitted development. If you're in a conservation area, on listed-building curtilage, or close to your boundary in an unusual layout, check with your local council first.

Is the timber safe for birds?

Yes. Our timber is finished with a pet-safe water-and-wax-based bactericidal preservative — the same treatment we use across our pet housing range. It protects against moisture and rot without using anything that's harmful to birds. We apply it before despatch so the aviary is ready to assemble and use straight away. Older creosote-style treatments aren't bird-safe; we don't use those.

How is it delivered, and how heavy are the panels?

The Wingmore ships flat-packed on a pallet, with free kerbside delivery across UK mainland. Each panel is heavy enough to need two people — please plan to have someone to help with delivery and assembly. We'll email a delivery slot in advance so you can arrange to be in.

How long does it take to assemble?

Plan for around 6 hours with two people, depending on experience. A standard screwdriver and socket set is enough — all fixings are included. The trickiest bit is lining up the door panels square, so take your time. Full instructions are in the box, and our team is on the phone if you get stuck.

What's not included that I'll need?

We supply the panels, mesh, roof, door, and all fixings. You'll want to add: a level base (paving slabs, gravel, or a concrete pad), perches and feeders sized for your birds, and — if predator pressure is high in your area — either an anti-dig skirt around the base or a fully concrete pad. None of these are included as standard because every garden setup is different.

What if I'm not happy with it?

You're covered by our 90-day no-quibble guarantee — far longer than the 30-day terms many aviary sellers offer. Get in touch within 90 days and we'll arrange the return. The 2-year parts warranty covers manufacturing faults across timber and hardware.

Can I leave birds in the Wingmore overnight?

Yes — the Wingmore is a full-time home for outdoor-suitable birds, not just a daytime exercise space. The covered roof section gives them a sheltered roosting area; you should lock birds into that section at dusk, especially in winter or in areas with high fox pressure. Open mesh flight stays available during daylight.
