I have recently purchased a Small Folding Canterbury Rabbit Run. This was for my tortoise, now the weather has turned but it’s too early yet for him to hibernate have put the run in my conservatory so he can still romp around as much as he wants .

The rabbit run arrived very quickly, undamaged and my little bunnies love it. This is the second run I have bought from this company as well at the 6ft Chartwell double rabbit hutch and they are all great.
Very study structures and very easy to put together! Be prepared to have a couple extra screws just to make it that extra bit solid.
I also found it helped to build the hutch with wood glue along with the screws just to make it extra solid.

The Burrow Portal is a small hinged door built into the side of the run that connects to a flexible tunnel — and that tunnel runs into a matching portal on a Chartwell hutch. The result: your rabbits can move freely between the safety of their hutch and the open space of the run, choosing for themselves when to exercise, graze, or retreat indoors. It's a genuinely new way to give them a much bigger, hutch-plus-run living environment without ever lifting them in and out.

Any Chartwell hutch fitted with a matching Burrow Portal. If your Chartwell already has one, just choose the tunnel length you need at checkout and you're set. If you've got an existing Chartwell without a portal, our Burrow Portal Install Kit lets you retrofit one onto most of our hutches in about half an hour. Get in touch if you're not sure whether your hutch is compatible — we'll help you check.

That depends on how far apart you want the run and the hutch to sit. We make tunnels in 600mm, 900mm, 1500mm, 2100mm, and 2600mm lengths to suit gardens of any shape — pick whichever bridges the gap you need. If you'd rather use the run on its own without a tunnel, we offer a "No Tunnel" version too. Not sure which length fits your setup? No — and we'll always be straight with you about this. Runs are for supervised daytime exercise only. No outdoor run is fully predator-proof, and rabbits left out overnight are at serious risk from foxes, badgers, and other wildlife. They should sleep in a secure hutch with a deep sleeping area where they can burrow in and stay hidden. This is exactly why the Burrow Portal exists — when the run is connected to a Chartwell hutch by a tunnel, your rabbits can choose to retreat into the safety of the hutch whenever they want, and you can close off the portal at night so they're securely tucked up in their proper night-time shelter.

The 6ft run gives you 1800mm × 900mm of floor space and 600mm of height — plenty of room for your rabbits to hop, stretch, and graze during supervised exercise time. For full-time welfare standards (the RWAF recommends around 3m × 2m for a pair of rabbits), we'd always suggest pairing the run with a Chartwell hutch via the Burrow Portal so the combined hutch-and-run area gives them proper space around the clock. If you need more, we also make a 12ft version of this run with the same portal system.

They could try — rabbits are champion diggers. The run has an open bottom by design (so they can graze fresh grass), which means you'll want to supervise them, peg the run down with anti-dig pegs to anchor it, or place it on a surface they can't tunnel through. Most owners use the run on the lawn whilst they're in the garden, then move the rabbits back into the hutch whenever they leave them unattended.

Easier than most flat-pack runs. The panels arrive pre-built — you're connecting sections rather than building from scratch — and labelled parts plus pictogram instructions take the guesswork out of it. Allow 1–2 hours with two people the first time you build it. All you need is a screwdriver or drill driver.

The timber frame is hand-treated with a pet-safe, water-based treatment that copes with rain, frost, and damp weather, and the heavy-gauge galvanised welded mesh stays strong and rust-free year after year. As with any wooden structure, re-treating the timber once or twice a year between seasons keeps it in top condition.

Yes — and it's one of the best things about an open-bottom run. Move it to a fresh patch of lawn every few days and your rabbits get clean grazing every time. The 6ft size is light enough to lift with two people (15kg without a tunnel attached), so rotating grazing positions is straightforward.
