It's the most wonderful time of the year! Well nearly anyway - I can almost smell the mince pies from here, and Micheal Buble's Christmas Album is my writing soundtrack for at least the next three weeks! So, if you have a hedgehog lover on your Christmas gift list this year and you need inspiration. Or indeed if you love hedgehogs yourself and need to leave some little hints about what you would like for your loved ones, here's our round-up for this year's most prickletastic gifts for hedgehog lovers.
Christmas Gift Inspiration for Hedgehog Lovers
Gifts for the Hogs
Any hog lover will love you all the more if you get them practical gifts they can use with their hogs.
And hogs can use a lot of stuff. Did you know, for example, that one hedgehog house is never enough?
Mama hogs always teach their hoglets not to eat in bed, so if you want to feed hedgehogs and give them somewhere to nest, you will need at least two houses.
Which is why my Mum is getting one of these Predator Proof Hedgehog Houses as a gift this year.
She already has a lovely hibernation house - now fully occupied for the winter. But her old homemade, plastic box feeding station is on its last legs. So I know she is going to love this smart new solid wood model.
This one is made from solid wood here in the UK and best of all comes fully assembled, So no festive DIY challenges for Mum!
She will also be getting some wet and dry hedgehog food to go with it. And even maybe a feeding dish if she's good.
If the hog-lover in your life rescues or overwinters hedgehogs, they might also like one of these smart indoor hospital boxes. Perfect for sheltering hedgehogs indoors, either for a few hours or the whole winter. These boxes are tried and tested by rescuers up and down the country.
Gifts that Give Back
Hedgehog lovers will also thank you double for choosing a gift that supports a hedgehog charity.
Little Silver Hedgehog

Emma Kate Farley runs a hedgehog rescue in York. Over the past eight years, she has rescued more than 500 hogs. To support her work with wildlife, she makes and sells beautiful silver jewellery.
This one is on my Christmas list.
But there are also hedgehog earrings, bracelets and cuff links as well as other nature and wildlife jewellery which is just as beautiful.
It's great to be able to give a beautiful gift that also supports such amazing work.
British Hedgehog Preservation Society

The BPHS has a wonderful online gift shop. Anything you buy from them contributes to their work with our prickly friends.
There are t-shirts, bags, mugs, notebooks, a wall calendar and more.
This bag is one of our favourites. But there really is something for everyone here.
Hedgehog Gifts for Kids
It's never too early to get them into wildlife. And hedgehogs are so cute and quirky they're a great place to start.
We love this cuddly little hedgehog, perfect for the little ones.
And for slightly older children (8+) or even adult crafters, how about this make your own hedgehog kit? If all goes well this gift could end up being made into a gift for someone else later in the year.
Always Room for a Good Book
I don't know about you, but I'm never disappointed to find a good book under the tree.
We have a full guide to books for hedgehog lovers here.
The RHS "How Can I Help Hedgehogs?" Book is on my own wish list. It's a beautiful book that has a whole range of garden projects that will help hedgehogs and other wildlife too.
And a young hoglet I know will be getting "How To Help a Hedgehog and Protect a Polar Bear" She is already a budding ecologist, and this fascinating National Trust book will help her on her way.
Hedgehog Stocking Fillers
And then there are the fun hedgehog-themed stocking fillers. The list goes on and on. But these are the ones we like best.
Christmas Tree Baubles
If your hedgehog lover is someone who treasures Christmas tree decorations and keeps them for years, they will absolutely love these. The pack of 5 hedgehog tree decorations will be great fun for kids to make in the run up to the big day.
Men's Hedgehog Socks
I know it’s a bit of a joke, and they may groan, but I don't know many men who don’t secretly love a new pair of socks for Christmas. These are hedgehog themed and made from super soft, sustainable bamboo. Lovely colours too.
Does Somebody Need a Hedgehug?
Of all the hedgehog mugs out there I think this is the one I want. Let's face it, this year we could all do with a hedgehug!
Chocolate Hedgehogs!
No Christmas stocking is complete without some chocolate. These milk and while chocolate hedgehogs, handmade in the UK have to be the perfect treat for any hedgehog loving chocoholic.
Are You Inspired?
We hope we've given you some festive hoggy inspiration. A thoughtful gift means a lot, especially if in 2020, you may not be able to share the festivities with your loved ones in person.
And we would love to hear your own gift ideas, wish list or suggestions. Leave us a comment below.

Hi Brenda,
You could try a little dog or cat food, ideally not fish though.
they might quite like banana, but it’s probably not very good for them.
Best of Luck!
